East Bengal unveil new kits for ISL 2022-23

The Rouge et Or will be on the field on the opening day.

The East Bengal FC Season 9 (2022-23) ISL team shirts were unveiled yesterday at Rajdanga Naba Uday Sangha, a local ground of Durga Puja in the presence of eminent dignitaries, East Bengal great players, of selected players from the East Bengal ISL team and its head coach.

The Home, Away and Third shirts were presented by VP Suhair, Cleiton Silva & Souvik Chakrabarti.

Since East Bengal FC has a very strong emotional bond with the people of Bengal, the unveiling of the team’s ISL shirts in the midst of Bengal’s biggest cultural festival – Durga Puja was a stage to reach out to football lovers in a party environment. With UNESCO awarding Durga Puja as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, this year the celebrations take on even greater significance and therefore provide a fitting platform to highlight the distinct themes and stories behind the making of each of the new jerseys.

The club’s veteran footballers wearing their own shirts from their glorious past handed over the club flag in a symbolic gesture of passing on their legacy to current players, as each of the shirts was unveiled along with the story behind the threads.

Themes Jersey 0f 2022:

The Home Kit is a recreation of the jersey from 1996 when Emami was the main sponsor of the East Bengal club and the team enjoyed a glorious tenure. This recreation of that shirt design from yesteryear aims to infuse the energy of that winning streak into the team, with Emami Group now becoming the club’s main investor.

The away shirt is a symbolic gesture of respect and recognition towards all the stars and trophies won by the club in its centenary heritage. The clean starry white shirt will make the club stand out strongly in away matches.

The third set represents what sets the team apart. The passion and fire that burns within to achieve the best and the hand that fuels that fire creates a distinct club identity.

The blue and white jersey with the self-designed symbol “Mashaal” (“hand with the torch”) in its self-designed print stands out in look and feel.

The coach and technical jersey were unveiled by actor, Parambrata Chatterjee and team head coach, Stephen Constantine.

The occasion was also graced by Mr. Javed Ahmed Khan, Honorable Minister for Disaster Management, Government of West Bengal, Mr. Susanta Ghosh, Chairman, Borough XIII, Legacy Legends Players, Manoranjan Bhattacharjee, Bhaskar Ganguly & Mihir Bose, actors, Mr. Neel Bhattacharya and Ms. Trina Saha, Mr. Sandeep Agrawal and Debabrata Sarkar – Directors, Emami East Bengal, Dr. Shantiranjan Dasgupta – East Bengal Club member, and Ms. Namrata Parekh, CEO, Emami East Bengal with Olympians, Ms. Poulami Ghatak & Mrs. Dola Dola Banerjee and Padmasree, Mrs. Bula Chowdhury.
