Fantasy Football Week 16 quarterback rankings: COVID absences, injuries and underperformance wreak havoc

As we prepare for Week 16, COVID remains a defining feature of the football landscape, with Jared Goff, Tyler Huntley and Taysom Hill among those on the COVID list as QB. And, with Lamar Jackson also ruled out with an ankle injury, that leaves the position continuing to seem pretty shallow.

Week 15 saw just 38 passing touchdowns in 32 QB games, the lowest total in a week with a full schedule since Week 15 of 2018. Pass production was just 14.17 fantasy points per QB game last week, the lowest total of the season and, again, the lowest total since week 15 of 2018. At a time when passing production has fundamentally increased from year to year. Other, the second half of this season has seen a big drop, and it has affected elite quarterbacks just as much as the lower levels, with a few exceptions.

Which makes it hard to know who you can trust during this fantasy playoff week. For example, Dak Prescott has averaged just 12.6 points per game in his last five games, while Kyler Murray hasn’t gone over 20 in any of his last two games. Patrick Mahomes has been extremely inconsistent and, oh yeah, Tom Brady just lost his top three goals this season.

Here is my QB ranking for week 16. To see the rankings for Jamey Eisenberg, Dave Richard and Heath Cummings, be sure to go here.
