Full-throttle Halloween in libraries, other places | City News

People looking to get out of the house and get into the Halloween spirit have an array of events to choose from in Scottsdale.

From family fun events at the four public libraries, festivals at the Arizona Boardwalk and concerts to a pub crawl, there’s plenty of marching band across the city for patrons to join in.

Kicking off are a slew of events at the city’s four public libraries, including Halloween Family Fun nights, Monster Mash, and Scary Stories of Scottsdale.

“It’s just a way to have, you know, people celebrating October, people who want to celebrate Halloween,” said Jennifer Wong-Ortiz, community engagement and outreach coordinator for the Scottsdale Public Library. .

Wong-Ortiz is most intrigued by Appaloosa Library’s Spooky Story Hour, which depicts the paranormal activity that has occurred in the library.

“We did programs with a group of paranormal investigators and according to them we had paranormal activity in our libraries. Arabian in particular had some interesting things,” Wong-Ortiz said.

Despite the paranormal activity occurring in the library, the scary stories to be told on Thursday, October 27 at the Appaloosa Library will feature stories about two Scottsdale residents who met an untimely end.

“Apparently there are two stories about people in Scottsdale who have come to an unusual end in the past 20 years,” Wong-Ortiz said.

In addition to telling spooky stories at the Appaloosa Library, the Mustang Library will give guests a chance to scream while showing a horror movie and offering monster-themed snack foods to munch on during the movie.

Outside of the library system, patrons have a choice of fun things to do all over town.
