Local businesses gear up for dedication weekend



The Basketball Hall of Fame enshrinement is Saturday. The ceremony draws NBA legends and fans from near and far to Hoop City and can give local businesses a boost!

Every local business Western Mass News spoke to on Friday afternoon said they were ready for the big event.

Right next to the Basketball Hall of Fame, the place to open its Springfield location a few months ago. Management told Western Mass News it’s ready to welcome any stars that may come through its doors.

“We are excited to be more involved in the Springfield area. I think it will really establish our connection with the community now that we are going to be part of such a big event that happens every year and we are really excited to see what the dedication weekend has in store for us,” said the The Place2Be brand director, Hannah Fitzgerald.

Meanwhile, Red Rose Pizzeria has been opened through all entrees! But Red Rose owner Rita Caputo-Capua said she’s always excited when basketball legends come through their doors year after year.

“It’s just fun, it’s just fun to see them come in and my kitchen staff, most of the guys recognize the players, recognize the coaches… And it’s nice to see you know like some of the players older ones who have already retired who have already left through consecration, they come into the city and they support those who are now consecrated,” she said.

As staff continue to be an issue for many Western mass restaurants, we asked both companies if this was an issue for this weekend, but they tell us they are ready and grateful for their teams. .

Friday’s celebration and awards gala took place in Connecticut at the Mohegan Sun. But, the dedication ceremony will take place at Symphony Hall on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
