KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) – The Ernest Grundy Tennis Center is now the newest addition to the Kearney Parks and Recreation Department.
The 62,000 square foot facility which features six indoor courts with mezzanine spectator seating opened to the public on Monday, May 9.
It is the headquarters of the UNK women’s tennis team and the offices of Kearney Park and Recreation.
This new facility will provide year-round access to tennis, first and foremost to the public. But will also serve as training and match venues for UNK as well as an emergency venue for High School Tennis in Kearney.
Kearney Park and Recreation will offer a variety of programs for all ages and skill levels of players that will help develop the game and build community enthusiasm and commitment to the game of tennis.
The tennis center will have a small pro shop, racquet stringing services and even racquet rentals; provide users with all the necessities to play.
Kearney Park and Recreation encourages all users to create an account on CourtReserve. This reservation system will allow users to see at any time what is scheduled on the courts and above all to be able to reserve a specific open court on a specific day and at a specific time. Once you have created an account on CourtReserve, a welcome email will be sent to you which will provide more information on how to reserve a court.
The Ernest Grundy Tennis Center is located at 1930 University Drive.
Opening hours are Monday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. reservation per person with a pass is $3.00 and without a pass is $6.00.
