Just returned from a week in Asheville. Residents complained of the heat and humidity. LOL! OH MY GOD! They need a visit to Bladen County for some heat and humidity. It was nice to be able to walk to your car without breaking a sweat.

By the way, mountain driving is hard driving. It doesn’t matter if you go up the middle or down the mountain. I think I would own a chain of brake repair shops if I lived there.

Can the Carolina Panthers make a playoff run in 2022? According to NBC’s Warren Sharp, Carolina lost or tied an NFL record 10 games in 2021 despite leading at one point. A much improved offensive line and a new quarterback (Sam Darnold isn’t beating Baker Mayfield for the starting job) should lead to a few more wins this season.

Seven former players will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame today. They are David Ortiz, Tony Oliva, Jim Kaat, Minnie Minoso, Gil Hodges, Bud Fowler and Buck O’Neil.

Martin Truex Jr. earns his first victory of the season in the M&M’s Fan Appreciation 400 NASCAR Cup race at Pocono Raceway. He clinches a playoff berth in what looks like a winners-only postseason field. Truex won at the Long Pond, Pennsylvania track in 2015 and 2018.
