Old Colony’s Brandon Mendez Named Patriots Coach of the Week

The undefeated Old Colony football team is doing great things this year and the rest of the state is taking notice.

Head Coach Brandon Mendez was named Patriots Coach of the Week on Tuesday after his The Cougars upset a much larger GNB Voc-Tech team 22-14 on Friday night in the very first football meeting between the two SouthCoast professional high schools.

“To be honest, I think I’m still in shock,” said Mendez, who is in his eighth year as head coach. “It’s such a great recognition for the team, the coaches and the school. It is a huge honor. It’s unreal.
