The game

For Week 9 of the NFL season, the Kansas City Chiefs host the Green Bay Packers at Arrowhead Stadium. Kick-off is at 3:25 p.m. Arrowhead time. The game will air on Fox – locally on WDAF / 4.

Defending AFC West and AFC champions the Chiefs have had a disappointing start to the 2021 season. Now with a 4-4 record that ties them with the Denver Broncos for the last place in the division, the Chiefs can hardly afford all loss on their remaining schedule – and now face three of the league’s top teams in consecutive weeks.

Foremost among them are the Packers, whose 7-1 record puts them first in the NFC North – and after eight weeks, the entire NFC. They arrive at Arrowhead with 10 days off after knocking out the last unbeaten NFL team with a 24-21 win over the Arizona Cardinals to Thursday night football.

The two teams last met at the end of October 2019. The Chiefs had also struggled to open this season – entering the game with a 5-3 record – while the Packers climbed high at 7-1. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was recovering from a dislocated kneecap he suffered the week before against the Broncos, so the reigning NFL MVP was not active for the game against Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers, who fought off quarterback Matt Moore in a 31-24 Packers victory at Arrowhead.

Sunday’s game is therefore the second time that these two quarters Assumed to meet in an NFL game – but as we found out earlier this week, that was once again not the case. Rodgers has tested positive for COVID-19 and has been tried outside Of the game. That means second-year quarterback Jordan Love will make his first career debut at Arrowhead Stadium. Love’s only pro action came in Week 1 of this year, as the Packers got run over by the New Orleans Saints. He finished 5 of 7 for 68 yards.

There couldn’t be a better time for Mahomes to shake off all the demons that troubled him. If he can, it could be a turning point for the Chiefs. If he can’t, Sunday could mark the start of three very long weeks for his team – and their fans.
