Week 8 of USFL the season kicked off on Friday with a heated match between the Pittsburgh Maulers and the New Jersey Generalswho started strong on the way to his seventh straight victory, 29-18.
The Generals improve to 7-1 this season, while the Maulers drop to 1-7.

The Generals’ defense came out strong in the second half. First, Dravon Askew-Henry beat Tre Walker on the return from kickoff.
Then Generals tackle Toby Johnson took down Rivers with a huge sack.
The Maulers added three points to close out the third quarter with a field goal-record 61 yards.

Victor scored his third score of the night to extend the Generals’ lead to 29-10 early in the fourth quarter.

The Maulers ran towards the end of the game, scoring in the middle of the last frame and adding a two-point conversion to keep things close, 29-18.
Alternate Kick Off
Pittsburgh opted for a alternate kick – a unique USFL rule where a team can choose to go fourth-and-12 from their own 33-yard line to gain possession.
Rivers found recent Maulers free agent Jalen McCleskey for an 18-yard gain to keep the ball, but it ended in a missed field goal, and that was it.
