Woman turns passion for golf into greeting card business

NAHANT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – The pro shop at Kelly Greens Golf Course at Nahant has everything one would expect to find on a golf course, including a unique surprise product.

Customers can find personalized golf-themed greeting cards made by store clerk Nancy Hamson. She started making these cards after noticing a lack of golf-themed greeting cards available at paper stores.

“I was just curious about what was out there for the golf industry when it came to greeting cards,” Hamson told Carl Stevens of WBZ.

Hamson is a longtime employee of the golf industry, but also worked at a stationery store that sold a lot of greeting cards. During the pandemic, she spent time learning how to make personalized greeting cards to make her own golf cards.

Some of the cards designed by Hamson include cartoon characters of male and female golfers taking the tee or posing with their golf bags. She sells the cards outside of the pro shop but has her eyes set on a bigger prize.

Hamson said she planned to bring these cards to the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida next January. She said she is convinced they will be a big hit.

“I really think this is such a unique product,” Hamson said. “These things are going to take off.”
